Two years ago I shut down my website and hit pause on Sunnyheart Photography. For every moment I’ve missed it, I’ve experienced ten more moments of presence and love in the time spent with family and friends.
Six months into my leave came the global pandemic. With a toddler and two dogs and a full time career in marketing, it wasn’t hard to fill my time. But the empty space left by dropping my most significant creative outlet led me to find new creative challenges.
I reignited my passion for all things arts and crafts — making toys and Montessori “works” for my daughter and creating a dedicated arts & crafts closet that we share. I upped my handyman skills and committed myself to way too many home projects — sometimes a sensitive topic in my household :). I took on a handful of freelance website projects while advancing my career in all things digital marketing. I built three baby albums and more than 50 volumes of family photo books — and gained a new understanding and appreciation of why my own childhood photo albums stop at about age five.
While I’m determined to not let go of my own personal creative projects, I’m excited to dive back into the world of photography with a fresh perspective and renewed passion. In addition to shooting portrait photography on a freelance basis, I’m going to do my best to share some of my favorite creative projects and photoshoots here on my blog — maybe to inspire or ignite creativity in others, maybe to inspire myself to operate fewer half-finished projects at a time.
Thank you to everyone who has supported my dreams and passion at many points in my life and career. I was lucky to have so many friends and family members model for me early on, family and especially my husband who supported and encouraged me, and clients old and new who trusted me to capture important moments and milestones in their lives. I am forever grateful for this experience and thrilled to continue on a new path.
